Summary/Abstract: The paper aims to present safety culture as a major component of business management, and the role of shaping safety culture in company management. The concept of safety culture can be applied to society as a whole, or to an enterprise, as well as to individuals. The sense of personal responsibility for safety issues translates into the safety culture in enterprises. The study has applied a tool which allows to assess the safety climate, which indirectly allows monitoring the level of safety culture. The research in the safety climate allows to determine employees’ attitudes in the field of occupational health and safety, and to diagnose the procedures functioning in different organisations.
