Summary/Abstract: The text deals with the nineteenth-century space of London and social inequalities seen through the prism of G. W. M. Reynolds’ penny part serialized novel, The Mysteries of London. The popular novel was not only a product of emerging mass culture, but also an interesting social document. Its author presented a radical diagnosis of existing social inequalities in the form of a city mysteries novel.
