Summary/Abstract: In comparison with other areas of lives of intellectually gifted, their career development is relatively rarely discussed and researched. In this overview study specific problems that gifted students face when choosing their careers (such as multipotentiality, early career maturity, high expectations of others, perfectionism), and selected differences in career decision-making process between intellectually gifted students and their peers will be discussed. The importance of career counselling for gifted is underlined and some of the recommendations for counselling the gifted client are stated. Career achievements of gifted adults were explored by American longitudinal studies. Similarly, a career satisfaction of gifted adults was investigated by foreign authors. How successful and satisfied in their careers are graduates of our educational programmes for intellectually gifted is yet to be elucidated.
