Summary/Abstract: Even though the NATO was formed after World War II to oppose the Soviet threat, it did not operate until after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Today it is evident that the NATO has been working towards a unipolar world and has been playing a leading role in all operations that throw Muslim lands into chaos and bloodshed. In this paper, we will examine the book "NATO No Longer Fits the Bill, We Need a More European Alliance" by Theo Sommer, in which he argues that losing its reason of existence with the annulment of the Warsaw Treaty, there is no need to keep the NATO alive in its current form. He argues that its current methods, as well as the insistance of its members to participate in matters outside of its concern, makes it clear that the NATO has to be examined on an institutional level. He emphasises the need to reconsider international issues, which the involvement of the NATO brought to a deadlock and the need to form local alliances. It is not possible to ensure the welfare of humanity with institutions that do nothing but cause oppresed people more harm.
