Summary/Abstract: The author presents so far unknown information regarding the surnames and first names of the first - rather few – inhabitants of the settlement called Belovar between the years 1753 and 1772. Since Bjelovar had until 1767 been under the Kapela parish administration, very valuable parish birth and death registers present sources of surnames and first names, in addition to other demographic and perinatal features. The majority of the surnames and first names were of German, Czech, Hungarian or old-Croatian origin, which confirms the historical events in this area.
