Translation of Jephthymes Praise tо the prince Lazarus in English and French

Summary/Abstract: The society of university-educated women existed in the Yugoslav kingdom from 1927 to 1941, when it was displaced to London because of the war. The main goals of the Society were the creation of friendly connections between universityeducated women of the country, as well as with foreign women, and the highlighting of female contribution to the country’s cultural heritage. The Archive of Yugoslavia and the Historical archive of Belgrade have data on the SUEW activities. The entire fund of the Archive of Yugoslavia shows that SUEW’s cultural activity was very lively and centred on the promotion of female writing and female creativity in general. For the First international congress of the Female alliance in Yugoslavia (Dubrovnik), the Society prepared a luxurious edition of the “Praise to Prince Lazar” in French and English. This valuable part of cultural heritage was intended to exhibit the deep and significant roots of female literature in Yugoslavia and to present female creativity in the best light at the international book exposition, held as part of the congress. That bibliographic edition, prepared by the Belgrade section, carries the title Monahinja Jefimija (Nun Jefimija) and can be viewed in the Historical Archive of Belgrade. This paper reproduces the texts of the French and the English translation of the Praise to Prince Lazar from Monahinja Jefimija.
