Summary/Abstract: Ecotourism is a type of sustainable tourism, based on nature and usually following certain principles of development and good practices. The publication is a general characteristic of ecotourism. Special attention is paid to protected areas, which are a valuable natural resource and increase the attractiveness of tourists compared to the surrounding areas subject to anthropogenic pressure. The three categories of ecotourism attractions are presented in leading tourist destinations.
