The Essential Assumptions fo the Regional Politics Research

Summary/Abstract: Solution of problems arising from regional disparities is a key issue of today and subject of various discussions. This is also the crucial task of regional policy as well. Regional policy is in fact an activity aimed at management of economic development processes within individual regions. Sustainable social and economic development of regions is the key premise of regional policy. Current perception of regional development highlights the internal environment and potential of certain territory (region). Both categories are considered factors of further development of the region. This paper illustrates basic premises of research of regional policy; it presents key definitions of the term “regional policy”, analyzes individual developmental stages of regional policy and supposes new concepts of regional policy for the near future.
