New Theoretical Study of Play

Summary/Abstract: The paper reviews the newly published book “Problems of the Theory of Play” (in Bulgarian), Asya Veleva, the author of it. The book studies the evolutionary roots of play activities in animal and human children. Nine theories of play are analyzed and a number of prototypical features of play activities are identified.They are valid both for animal and human plays. An outline of a new conception of the play phenomenon is proposed. Dr. A. Veleva’s study is a valuable contribution to the understanding of child’s play.
