Summary/Abstract: This article concerns the rule of the Serbian king Stefan Dushan and the rise of the Serbian medieval state between 1331 and 1355. At the beginning of the article, the way in which Stefan Dushan sits on the Serbian throne is described. After that, the article follows Stefan Dushan’s foreign policy and his relations with the Bulgarian medieval state, the Byzantine Empire, the Roman Catholic church and others. The article ends with Stefan Dushan’s internal policy: the changes in the status of the Serbian medieval state, Dushan’s Code and the church policy of Stefan Dushan.
