Summary/Abstract: Timiseni Monastery is destined for the nuns, having about 40 women, dedicated to „Beheaded of the Head of St. John the Baptist“ (29 August), and is located about 14 km from Timişoara, in Şag. It was founded by Metropolitan Vasile Lazarescu of Banat, when he was only a bishop of Timisoara in 1944. At the beginning it functioned as a metoch of the Partoş monastery, a monastery which was re-established by the same hierarch. The monastery had only a minimum of facilities at that time, being founded around the former forest detour, and the service was in an improvised chapel. The nuns tell with excitement how they lived in the first years of living at the Timişeni monastery.
