Summary/Abstract: The aim of this research is to investigate the knowledge level of academicians about investment instruments and to invest in various investment tools. The data subject to the study were obtained from 653 academicians who work in 30 different state universities by sending the questionnaire form which is prepared by the author of this article with high reliability level of 91.3%. The data obtained were evaluated by frequency analysis and nonparametric statistical analysis techniques (Mann Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis Test). The frequency distribution results obtained from the research are as follows: The most well-known individual investment instruments are “gold”, “foreign exchange”, “real estate”, “automobile” and “individual pension system”. The individual investment vehicles the most invested in are the “private pension system”, “real estate”, “gold”, “automobile” and “foreign currency”. According to the results of Mann Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis Tests, a statistically significant difference was observed on recognizing the investment tools and investing in them in terms of “gender”, “field of study”, “level of income” and “level of savings” variables.
