ON AUTHORITARIANISM AGAIN

Summary/Abstract: The first part o f the paper comprises important theoretical questions concerning researches in authoritarianism. What follows are explanations o f that what distinguishes this research from others - dealing with authoritarianism in the sphere of sexual behavior o f the young educated people in our largest urban environment.authoritarianism o f the young we had researched was according to the scale o f cultural pattern o f sexual behavior and "sexual biography" This time a separate scale of authoritarianism was applied and its correlations with traditional-patriarchal pattern was tested. It was supposed that traditionalism, patriarchality and authoritarianism equally represent this cultural pattern. The sample was representative - consisted o f2.200 secondary school and university students. The scale o f authoritarianism tends to have general factor whitch corresponds to authoritarian submissivety. This factor correlates highly positively with the subscale o f general traditionalism in sexual behavior and with the subscale of "machismo". This general authoritarianism weakly correlates with the "sexual biography" o f the respondents. Also high correlation was found, but negative ones, with aging. There is correlation also with type o f education, while correlation with the degree o f education can well be ascribed to the age. Apart from the general factor, a very stable leader factor was found, too. On those bases, as well on the basis o f other results, we have concluded that the concept o f the leader could play a very important role in interpretation o f authoritarianism. In comparison to the previous results it was found that the authoritarianism o f the young has decreased.
