Summary/Abstract: One of the main macroeconomic problems in many emerging countries like Turkey is the current account deficit. It is very important for countries to cope with this fundamental problem so that they can grow steadily. When Turkey's current account deficit is examined, a significant portion of this deficit is due to energy imports. Turkey must reduce its dependence on energy import in order to provide its current account balance and economic stability. It should stabilize their economies in the long run. In this study, primarily Turkey's renewable energy potential, renewable energy production and energy consumption were investigated. It is understood that Turkey insufficiently benefit from renewable energy sources. Then, the relationship between Turkey's current account balance and energy imports was examined. Energy policies have been proposed to increase the production of renewable energy in Turkey.
