Summary/Abstract: In order to be meaningful units, words should interact with other units of a sentence and this interaction ought to be provided through various methods. All other necessary items for fulfilling the meaning of a word are called as determiners, while the relation of the word with a determiner is named as valency. From verbs to nouns, all free morphemes have valency. Postpositions, the subject matters of this article, require some suffix adjunctions to nouns, which constitute word groups (i.e. Senin için yaşıyorum; Eve kadar yürümek istiyorum). There are a lot of postpositions that have been used from Old Turkic to Turkish. Postpositions in question can interact with nouns which are used before those postpositions themselves; they also have some specific functions in a sentence.
