Summary/Abstract: The aim of this research is to analyse the Hungarian economic growth paths after 2000 at the subnational level, and to project, on the basis of the past trends, long-run regional growth paths under various assumptions. The methodology of the projection is based on a top-down, distributive spatial downscaling procedure in which a given national-level economic (GDP) projection is downscaled to the sub-national level. The paper focuses on methodological issues, therefore it does not aim to draw up regional policy recommendations. It highlights that by most scenarios, spatial inequalities are expected to further increase in the long run.
