Summary/Abstract: The article presents the evolution of the idea of constitutional judiciary in the Polish legal and political thought and constitutional law. Starting from the judgment of the constitutionality of the law in 1919. Ending with the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of 2 April 1997 and the Law on the Constitutional Court detailed the same year. The evolution of the idea of constitutional judiciary as indicated dates back to the Second Republic but its renaissance came only in the second half of the twentieth century. In connection with the current changes in the power of the Poland – enacted this law in detail about the history of the constitutional court seems to be vital. Comprehensive analysis of individual constitutions and specific laws of the Court allows the observation of evolution that has undergone the court during almost the last century.
