The issue of the theft of trees and timber theft in terms of legal and statistical

Summary/Abstract: This article is an attempt to evaluate the effectiveness of legal regulations regarding the theft of a tree and timber theft in the forest in relation to statistical data. The article reviews the theft of a tree and timber theft in legal terms. Author analyzed data related to theft of wood in the National Forest Holding “The State Forests” and theft of tree according to statistical data of police. The study presents registered events, stolen wood in m3 and value of damages in thous. zł since 2012 to 2016. On the basis of the analysis it was demonstrated that the number of theft of tree and timber theft are decling. It is therefore noted that there is downward trend.
