The crime of espionage in the studies of Stanisław Pikulski

Summary/Abstract: The article gives a presentation of the reflections of Professor Stanisław Pikulski concerning espionage in the understanding of Article 124 of the Criminal Code of 1969. The article takes a closer look at those aspects of espionage that are particularly controversial in doctrine and practice. The professor’s doctoral thesis – “The crime of espionage in theory and practice” (“Przestępstwo szpiegostwa w teorii i praktyce”) Warsaw 1987 – is widely referenced and presents conclusions resulting from author’s own research, which were included in his habilitation thesis “Issues of criminal liability concerning espionage” (“Zagadnienia odpowiedzialności karnej za szpiegostwo”) Warsaw 1985. Stanisław Pikulski’s works can still be used because they contain many cognitive and inspirational values.
