Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to show how the science, which has taken crime as a subject of interest, can interact with technical sciences in order to raise the level of internal security. This will be presented on the basis of the results of the R&D project titled “Legal and criminological aspects of the implementation and application of modern technologies for the protection of internal security (0R00003707) financed by the National Center for Research and Development. It was implemented in 2009–2011 by a consortium consisting of PPBW sp. o.o. and the University of Bialystok. The project involved carrying out extensive research indicating the directions of using legal and criminological knowledge in the field of creating technological solutions to improve internal security – for the state and its citizens. It was precisely works at the interface between these two areas: legal and technical, that made the project innovative.
