Summary/Abstract: Yuri Kanashin (born in 1939, Racheyka station of the Russian Federation) is a sculptor, who has worked in the genre of nude nature since the period of his studies at the Republican Art School named after „I. E. Repin „ in Chisinau, continuing to create nudes and after graduating from the Moscow Higher Art and Industrial School (earlier named after Stroganov). Reviewing the evolution of the nude genre in the work of Yuri Kanashin, one can identify the presence of a whole almost continuous line of subjects and creative investigations. The sculptor realizes the semantic and artistic value of the nude genre, which is interpreted in his creativity under different aspects, beginning with the naked model, then as some parts of his compositions as constituent elements. For the sculptor Yuri Kanashin the nude is a visual element of support in creating mood, movement and artistic ideas in his thematic compositions.
