Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with the question of how Polish and Russian-speaking foreigners use Czech reflexive verbs in written form by analysing mistakes in their essays. A classification of mistakes is provided and frequencies of the specific types of mistakes are analysed. Statistical tools are applied in the analysis in order to show whether there are differences in the use of reflexive verbs between Polish and Russian-speaking students. Furthermore, the existing theoretical descriptions are used to find out whether these differences can be explained by the influence of their mother tongues. The results show that both groups make a similar total number of mistakes, but when the typology of mistakes is taken into account there are statistically significant differences in at least one category.
