Summary/Abstract: There were a small amount of people who knew how to read or write when the Qur'an was first revealed. Arabic literature had not yet developed. There were no punctuation marks. For this reason, the prophet Muhammed allowed Muslims to read the words in different ways. This topic is one which is primarily criticized by orientalists. In the Qur’an words such as “jamal” and “jumulat” mean “jamal” however when read differently mean rope, cord and log. In this article we are going to focus on the different readings of these words and the meanings that come out of it.
