Summary/Abstract: The present study sets out to clarify why in the present time Reinhold Niebuhr is often called ‘a prophetic voice’. He was a pastor, teacher, moral theologian, activist, and a prolific author. His arguments regarding society, church and history seem to be confirmed by the reality.Throughout his life, Niebuhr was able to affirm the biblical message of the justice and mercy of God and to apply it to the everyday reality of his contemporary society with such an insight,that even at the beginning of the 21st century he does not appear to be outdated at all.
