Summary/Abstract: The subject of this article are traditional soups in the menu of inhabitants of Upper Silesia from the second half of the 19th century until present day. An integral part of this elaboration is the dictionary of soups, in which the authors have focused on the semantic description of a given soup and the origin of its name. The authors also provided some examples of use, quoting selected sources, incl. publications from the field of ethnography and linguistics (mainly dialect dictionaries) and utterances of Silesians collected during field research conducted for the recent several years (2016-2018) in Silesian Voivodeship and Opole Voivodeship.
