Summary/Abstract: The paper points out the complex nature of the prose poem as a dual literary genre which is mostly analyzed in a variety of theoretical approaches both from the pre-poetic and post-poetic points of view. According to recent theoretical interpretations, in his posthumous collection Le Spleen de Paris (1869) Baudelaire switched verses into prose statements or sentences and thus, the metaphorical mode was transformed to a metonymic figure of speech. In this way, Baudelaire’s prose poem as a self-defining form functions as a genre with a dual pattern comprising both poetry and prose features (i.e. Anywhere out of the World).
