ROINFO project 2018/2019 – 60 years of Romanian informatics

Summary/Abstract: The article describes the objectives of the ROINFO Project 2018/2019. The ROINFO project „Romanian Informatics” aims to develop studies and research to describe and to explain the ‘phenomenon’ of the emergence, evolution, and development of informatics in Romania. The volume “History of Romanian Informatics – Appearance, Development and Impact” clearly describes the understanding of the evolution of informatics both at international level and in Romania, through our experiences and results in Computer Science/Informatics studies andresearch. Moreover, through the descriptions and testimonials of various Romanian specialists – scientists, professors from higher education and pre-university education, researchers, engineers, economists, mathematicians, computer scientists etc., some of them even living during the early days of Computer Science in Romania, the mid–1950s. În the year when we celebrate the Centenary of the Great Union and of the creation of the Kingdom of Romania in 1918, we dedicate this volume to over 60 years of Computer Science (Informatics) in Romania.
