Summary/Abstract: Based on the words uttered at the Last Supper in the Holy Bible: “While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, ‘Take and eat; this is my body.’ Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, ‘Drink from it, all of you.’This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”1, the Liturgy is built around the communion of church goers with the Saviour’s body and blood. Also, this tradition relies on the command uttered by Jesus: “Do this in remembrance of me.”2 During the apostolic period, repeating the custom of breaking the bread was aimed at updating the redemption and keeping alive the memory of the ultimate sacrifice, of Jesus Christ’s redeeming death. This tradition has gradually changed, and its form and content have crystallised in today’s Holy Bible.
