Summary/Abstract: When media ownership evolved from private companies headed by clearly visible entrepreneurs into "faceless" corporate giants, the media had lost the role of "the fourth pillar of democracy" and had transformed into purely profit-seeking organizations that react to the propaganda instructions. They no more correspond to a citizen, but to a consumer. Journalists` profession is making a u-turn, from ethical obligation to report freely and objectively, to executing corporate warrants. The consequence is that the "watchdog“ of liberal democracy has transformed into a mechanism that endangers democracy directly, and the interest of the group (or the class) of owners is unconditionally being positioned above the interest of the society.
