Summary/Abstract: Virtual trade fairs have been gaining in popularity for more than a decade. In view of the rapid development of the Internet, some experts are of the opinion that such solutions can replace meetings between exhibitors and visitors which take place in exhibition halls. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to reflect on whether virtual trade fairs constitute a real threat to traditional exhibition events. To that end, the distinguishing features of both communication platforms were identified and used as a basis for indicating benefits received by both participants of virtual trade fairs and traditional trade fairs.
