The Potential for Increase of the Cards Usage in Cashless Payments in Poland

Summary/Abstract: The article presents the current state of development of the payment card market in Poland, taking into account both their issuance for consumers and the network of card acceptance among enterprises. The risk of development barriers in these two areas was rejected, due to the identification of market factors and public programs supporting cashless payments. A forecast for changes in the number of card payments was prepared on the basis of NBP statistics. The results indicated a high growth potential of the use of payment cards to carry cashless payments on the Polish market in a four-year horizon
