Summary/Abstract: Alan Milne's Winnie-the-Pooh, as one of the most popular examples of children's literature, was translated into many different languages. The point of the article was to check and compare translations of proper nouns into two different Slavic languages: Polish and Slovenian. The reason for choоsing two Slavic languages was to compare how the chosen proper nouns were translated to languages which are from a different family than a language of the original novel. My research is focused on translation of proper nouns and techniques used by both translators. Proper nouns, that are the object of an article, contain mostly names of the characters from the novel, such as the name of the protagonist and his best friends.
