Summary/Abstract: In this paper, the author attempts to explain why the present regime in Serbia advocates the idea of equality of all forms of property and why it cancels not only negative but also positive effects of privatization. The answer must be sought in the very character of this regime. Namely, it hesitates between ideological principles and interests of some of its members, and that hesiation explains its behavior.
