Summary/Abstract: The Authoress attempts to answer the question: which of the many concepts of education – in the most appropriate way – implements the goal of education, which is the optimal development of human person, and thus the development of culture and civilization in which she lives. At the beginning the Authoress notes that at the basis of various conceptions of education lies definite conception of man – philosophical anthropology. She discusses three competing theories of education: collectivism, individualism and pedagogical personalism. She points out that they are based on three different conceptions of man. Next, the Authoress discusses the issue of education in the cultural and civilizational context. She explains what the mutual impact of education on social culture (civilization) is all about. He draws attention to the Latin civilization, in which education is an important element determining the direction of its development.
