Summary/Abstract: In 2017 it was 25 years since the implementation of the “Health Promoting School” (HPS) programin Poland. Now this program is implemented in 45 European countries within the “School forHealth in Europe” network. Currently, in Poland, more than 3,500 schools and kindergartens belong to the 16 voivodeship HPS networks. The separate model, standards and tools for self--evaluating of results for health promoting kindergartens (HPK) and a guide for teachers and theirwork supporters were developed in 2017. Their suitability has been tested in 10 kindergartens. Thearticle describes the concept of health promotion and HPK as a setting for health promotion. Themodel, standards and tools for HPK self-evaluation as well as the concept and principles of development and strategy of activities in this kindergarten were presented. This will enable kindergartens to apply for the “National Health Promoting Kindergarten Certificate” issued by the Ministerof National Education. The assumptions of the HPK program in the Czech Republic, Estonia andGermany were also discussed. The need was pointed out to support the development of HPKprogram by academic centers and the training of pre-school and early-school education teachers inthis field.
