Craftsmanship in wood and its vocabulary – the announcement

Summary/Abstract: The article constitutes the herald of the upcoming dissertation “The Vocabularyof Craftsmanship in Wood in Polish”. So far there has not been a complex study of vocabularyrelated to this branch of craftsmanship.The research data comprising over seven thousand of lexical items, has been excerptedfrom Polish dictionaries and thematic dictionaries. For the purpose of the presentation of the richlexical data there has been used the Fields Theory. The base for the division of craftsmanship vocabulary became the anthropocentric approach to the world taking account the uniqueness of the given lexis. The research data was classified into four areas, 19 fields and 70 subfields .Apart from reviewing the fields the author plans to analyze the vitality of the given items and their functionality in contemporary Polish as well as tries to determine the etymology of the given items which will allow to define the role of vocabulary of craftsmanship in wood in Polish.Keywords: linguistics,
