Summary/Abstract: It is often case in the social theory (particularly in the Marxist theory) that the problem of emancipation, together with the closely related concepts of revolution and radical social change, are connected with the analysis of the carriers — »subjects« of the change. Attributing an »emancipatory potential« to the new social movements demands a reexamination of the concept of emancipation and of qualitative social change.
