Summary/Abstract: Oral history is a method present within various scientific disciplines. The analysis of literature and projects shows that it is mostly dealt with by amateurs. The issues analyzed in this article have been raised since the introduction of the Ethical Recommendations of the Polish Association of Oral History in 2018. The Author analyzed the approach to that method as a historical source, changing throughout the centuries. This issue, as well as the analysis of the projects implemented by Polish institutions, made it possible to specify the main ethical dilemmas mentioned by the researchers that use the oral history as their research method. In this article a point of view of a historian and a museum expert was presented, due to the author’s experience.
