Summary/Abstract: Turkey has the feature of being a semi-peripheral country within the international political system. Thus, since the end of the 19th century, apart from particular cases and eras, the foreign policy of Turkey could be analyzed accordingly. What's more, the recent Syria crisis can be proclaimed on the basis of the position of Turkey as a semi-peripheral country within the international political system. Turkey's being able to proceed as a middle-power should be apprehended in terms of being a semi-peripheral country.
