Summary/Abstract: In our country Internet and social media usage rates are increasing day by day. Majority of the population can access the Internet and spend most of their time on the Internet. Especially the use of Internet through mobile devices becomes widespread. The number of people using social media channels is accounted in millions (Bayrak, 2020). Under existing circumstances it is unthinkable that the public administration mechanism will not be irresponsive to this. In the light of the changes experienced in recent years, active, effective and efficient working methods have been applied in the public administration structure. In this context, public administrators try to access the citizens both via e-government applications and social media channels and try to respond to their questions or problems quickly. In this study, official Twitter accounts of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and district municipalities in Izmir, personal Twitter accounts of the mayors of the same municipalities, headline news of 3 nationally publised newspapers with highest circulation, publications and tweets of 5 local newspapers have been followed for 30 days and thousands of tweets have been analyzed using the content analysis method. Categorizing the local publishings’ tweets about the local issues, it was tried to determine the kind of messages tweeted by them and to reveal the alignment of these tweets – if exists any - with national and local agenda news. It is considered that the research paper will make a contribution to the related field due to the few number of previous studies on the mentioned subject and it is believed that this study will be a model for future researchs.
