Summary/Abstract: The events in Kiev’s Maidan in 2014 sparked off controversy in the world. The mainstream circulation considers them as a breeze of democracy and ousting of Viktor Yanukovych’s authoritarian government. European and international media have unequivocally appraised the Ukrainian revolution, attributing to it a positive historical role. The Russian-speaking population fighting for autonomy in Eastern Ukraine, together with Putin’s administration supporting it, are presented by the mainstream as the source of all evil. It is usually not taken into account, that since the Ukrainian coup some neo-Nazi political groups have started to gain more influence.
