Summary/Abstract: The paper analyzes a short entertaining form – the caricature, which conveys a message in a simple and concise way, using humor and satire. The caricature is a reliable reflection of reality, a social comment, it states the unstatable. After a short reminder of its history, the paper points out the state of caricature in Serbia using the example of the paper Jež (Hedgehog). Until the very end of the 20th century caricature was thought of as superficial and humorous, while its potential as serious material for research was neglected. The paper will point out this potential.
