Summary/Abstract: The aim of the study is analysis of the direct medical cost of treating patients with suspected acute stroke in the Emergency Department of Military Hospital 111 in Poznań. A group of 288 subjects was analyzed, out of which 180 were female and 108 were male. On the basis of the analysis conducted, it can be concluded that the highest cost, amounting to about 75% of the total cost, is diagnostics, the most expensive element of which is computer tomography. The remaining costs comprise doctors’ fees and pharmacotherapy. The cost of treatment in the case of patients with acute stroke can be lowered by using medicines with proven effectiveness in this neurological condition.
