Summary/Abstract: Beginning with the 1950s, there will be stronger highlighted one of the most essential features that will determine the future character of Soviet arts: the tendency of national schools to highlight the ethnic specific features. At that time, the society`s spiritual processes coincided with broadening the spheres of knowledge. In the 1950s-1960s the plastic artists from all the fields showed particular interest in the people`s history, ethnography, art and folk epic. The book illustrators’ creation is imbued with the trend of assimilating the national traditions, at the same time, trying to give them a new socialist content. The literary subjects of the texts were treated differently: taken from the national or folk epic, based on the generalized characteristic typesearches, with direct or indirect narrative aspects, originated from a symbol.
