Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the relationship of sacred Christian art in general with the artist’s spiritual life. According to the author, the truth about sacrum is conditional on the artist’s spiritual life expressed in various forms. He mainly emphasizes the state of prayer, purification, penance and the state described in eastern spirituality as apatheia.
