Summary/Abstract: The article attempts to determine whether the Polish insurance market is ready to replace the practice of remunerating insurance brokers by insurance companies in favor of a fee paid by the policyholder. In the first part of the article, the Author outlines importance of the profession of insurance broker in Poland with an emphasis on the increasing scope of activities carried out by brokers for insured persons. Next, the Author describes the approach to the issue of remunerating insurance brokers in European coun- tries, as well as the experience of selected countries related to the regulation of broker remuneration. Finally, the Author puts forward the thesis that the prohibition of charging commissions from insurers is in contradiction with the idea of increasing the protection of the interests of the insured persons.
