Summary/Abstract: Academician Radomir Lukić is the forerunner of sociological consideration of the globalization phenomenon, arguing in his textbook that the unification of mankind is one of the ’main changes’ in contemporary society. Lukić did it much earlier than the term “globalization” was coined. The significant contribution to Serbian sociological thought on globalization was given by a number of our contemporary sociologists who have studied minutely this process (D. Ž. Marković, Lj. Mitrović, R. Smiljković, М. Pečujlić, Z. Vidojević and other authors). Vladimir Vuletić was the first who defended PhD thesis in the field of the sociological consideration of globalization at the University of Belgrade.
