Summary/Abstract: There are moral, economic, political theories which claim that the age we live in is the best era in history, that the progress of humankind is authentic. Manipulative ideologies have been issued to convince people who do not notice the well-being of the world we live in. In Psychology, an orientation has emerged, the positive psychology, that recommends optimism as therapy. Confronted with these obviously optimistic, but not fully justified attitudes, or with manipulation techniques, the elementary skepticism, assimilated to critical thinking, is an effective weapon of defense.
