Summary/Abstract: The article presents the law governing the disciplinary responsibility of legal advisers. The discussion begins with an observation on the growing significance of disciplinary responsibility in the legal system and an attempt to explain the reasons behind this phenomenon. The author analyses the grounds for the disciplinary responsibility of legal advisers by highlighting the thesis on the law’s independent character, which – despite showing many similarities to criminal responsibility – is autonomous. The role of the oath taken by legal advisers as one of the sources of disciplinary responsibility has also been addressed. Subsequently, the importance of professional ethics, serving as one of the bases of said responsibility, is considered with reference to the status of professional codes of ethics, including the Code of Ethics for Legal Advisers. Furthermore, the relations between the ethics of advocates and legal advisers have been briefly discussed, as well.
