Summary/Abstract: This article aims at analyzing start-up risk insurability. The study presents a definition of start-ups as innovative enterprises, their significance to the economy, risks related to their business activity and issues concerning the use of insurance as a risk financing instrument. Considerations focus on two types of start-up risks – the insurable and non-insurable ones. The analysis reveals that the potential of using insurance as a start-up risk financing instrument is limited due to start-ups’ specificity and high risk volatility over time, which imposes on these enterprises the need to look for other, non-insurance instruments to limit the business-related risk.
